The air on this day was cold, crisp, but refreshing, the sun cast through the clouds into my window. I took a moment to look down at the city, the presence of a cold morning where everyone just went about their day, their mind focused on just work, or getting around to things in their week that was forgotten, deeds to get done I guess. Crawling out of bed only to feel the dread of a new day, walking through my hallway, only having a few feet to work around. When you are on the lamb, anywhere is home, I was one of the lucky ones to find somewhere suitable, as well to make sure my sister was also in a good place, for now, I crouch down to lite my heater and get a well-deserved meal going. When you have insomnia from the constant guarding, it gets to you. “Markis! God turn that off it smells like fucking shit.” “The burner? I keep it clean when we cook, and you turn it down, the tenants will hear us.” “God you need to let loose if you are saying this is our last day you gotta let loose! Enough hiding I gotta tell the world whats coming to them.” I look over my shoulder to see Gen pointing her finger out the window. She yells with great enthusiasm. “ You hear me Victus, today is your fall!” “Christ Gen shut up! Thell hears us.” She looks back at me with a smile, understanding my frustration she makes a face at me and floats down from the bed. “You nervous? This can get bad tonight.” I look up at Gen with confidence, but in the back of my mind, I was scared. “We can do this, plus we have a whole group that is ready for our command, we should go.” After some packing, we get ready to leave, looking back at our apartment, becoming a squatter at this age, me and Gen are really young at this point, and we do not have family to go to so it was the most convenient choice, sneak in the attic in this landlord building, he would never know. This was our last day here, on top of all the sneaking around and surviving on what little nourishment we can find, today was not like any other day. Today was revolution The separation was tough, all users of magic were sent towards Waldwitch a long time ago, and we were the kids that were left behind. I remember it so well, its engraved in my mind, and will be till the day we die. “Gen hurry we need to go now, mom is waiting.” “Can we do it?” “We need to run, as fast as we can, and no run of Hermes, one glance and the Ithica guards will kill us on site.” “Let's go then.” We ran till we heard the heart in us rip out of our ribs, we were out of breath when we made it to the docks, we scanned the dock where the wood creaked with all the guards leading all users to the boat. Then we spotted her, she looked scared. “Mother!” We cry out, with no second to hesitate she makes a move to grasp us in her arms. But out of line, she was spotted by a guard. With black coated armor, they aura fear. “Out of line get back you whore user of the dark arts.” He whipped her across the face, the armor being steel made a cut, just on the top of her temple, she falls. Our own mother dies right in front of our faces. As we see her lungs take a last gust of air. She goes silent. The guards acting like there is not a care in the world, as all the other transported prisoners make their way to the boat, walking over the corpse that crosses their path between water and guards, we Stand there, lost in thought, all in the blink of an eye, everything was lost, just like that. My thoughts clear up, and looking around, I notice a rising temperature. I look over to see a girl, a girl so powerful her whole body started to flame, her powers exposed to Ithaca, she was mad, and she mourns with anger. Gen wanted blood, she now reached her point in revenge. A guard walks over and in the blink of an eye I see through him, her blazing flames pierce the finest of armor, as the guard drops, screaming and agony is heard all around the town. Guards surround us, drawing swords that shine of might and fear. As Gen screams and the blaze creates a
barrier from us to the guards, No hesitation was made from my end, I grab her hands, entering the burning pain, I endure it for just a second and then with a single word. “Mizta!” We teleport miles away from the scene of her doing, The Ithica slum, Garthon, a town with nothing special to note of it. Her rage damages a few houses here and there, with all to hear but the silence of burning. Nobody to be seen, the damage burns rusted our buildings that only have dust. She calms down, crying, screaming, falling for her to come back. “Markis, who did that to mom.” “The man Victus, he was in charge of moving all the users to Waldwitch.” “Can you promise me something?” “Yeah what is it, Gen.” “Ten years from now, let's kill Victus, and get our revenge.” “That's something you wanna do Gen, you are so you-.” “Markis, for mother we do this.” That was ten years ago, now we are older, more powerful, more experienced, and ready. We planned this event since that day and today, all Acropolis will hear of our vengeance. “Gen you ready?” “Let’s do it.” I use Mizta and we appear in my projected location a small alleyway across from the capital building. We walk down the alley hearing the distance sounds of the town traveling from place to place. We peak out into the streets, padded with stone, hearing the steps of everyone walking by we stride down the capital building. There is one part we scouted out the place a long time ago trying to retrace our steps to a certain location, the back of the capital building has a passage, not very big but able to fit in and climb into the building. We make sure nobody sees us and we make our way down, the path leading to this sewer tunnel. “Gen are you sure you can end him quick.” “Yes, I just need a clear shot, once we get into wherever the main hall is, I’ll give him one of my fireballs, straight through the heart, painful but it will be done quickly.” “Promise me you'll come out of this safe Gen.”
“I promise.” She starts to walk through and I follow behind her. Making our way through the tunnel. Coming out on the basement floor where the stench of trash reeks the floor. There is a staircase leading to a door on the top, we walk up sneaking our way through guards on every corner, making our way to the top where we came to what we think is the quarters of Victus. “Gen, I’ll look through then you strike if he is in there.” “Ok, I’m gonna charge give me a minute and I’ll be ready.” I concentrate. “Forsee.” I gain the sight to look through the walls of the capital. I can see all the movement, the positions of everyone, the heat of the body. Victus he was in there. We are this close to finishing it, finish our revenge. “He is sitting in the center, once the door opens he will be in your sight, Ready?” “I am.” Her whole body engulfs in flames a flame in her fist gets larger. “Release.” The door flings open, Gen fires a shot into the room burning the whole room shooting through the stain glass mirror that was a silhouette around his chair. The whole blast burner everything. A small pinch pokes my back. “On the ground!” Guards have surrounded me, their blades pointed at me, almost piercing my skin. I look past the guards that circle me to see Gen, bound to the floor by Victus. “You two are in a lot of trouble, coming in here and using the dark arts, after ten years of a clean town, and you two ruin it.” “So you are the cause of it all, sending all the users away, and your damn guards killed our fucking mother.” “And it will be your last time here.” After that the knight separated us Gen was sent to Waldwitch and for myself, I never was able to make it over there, the guards watch me from time to time as I sit homeless on the streets of Ithica. I never know if I'll see my sister again, but one day I’ll get to her, and we will meet again.
